Upside Down Fantasyland
Upside Down Fantasyland is a raw and poetic exploration of Troy Rogers journey from the shadows of his past to the light of his future.
Troy vulnerably takes the stage to share his experiences of growing up in out-of-home care. His childhood shaped by the trauma of drug-related struggles and a life with his grandmother due to his parents' substance abuse. It's a clever and seamless delivery, dynamically performed through poetry, song and prose
In this deeply personal performance, Troy delves into the complexities of his past with honesty and courage, while balancing the heavy material with humour and love.
Upside Down Fantasyland offers an unflinching look at resilience, healing, and the bittersweet nature of growing up in a world turned upside down.
Presented by: Troy Rogers
Troy Rogers is an emerging artist living on the Mid-North Coast of NSW. After rediscovering his childhood passions to express and create, for the past 3 years Troy has been delving deep into a creative life. Acting is Troy’s creative cornerstone, he’s been involved in many stage shows in his local towns of Bellingen and Coffs Harbour. Complementing the acting and feeding his desire to create with no barriers, Troy also enjoys singing, dancing, modelling, silversmithing, drawing and writing. Ultimately Troy would like to create a life where he has all the resources he needs to bring his imagination to life.
His early life was filled with traumatic experiences, of which he endured while living with his heroin-addicted parents. Upside Down Fantasyland is a collection of these experiences.
