SKA - Kingston to Coventry
FRINGE WORLD 2026 – Weekly Award Winner – Music and Musicals.
Hear familiar ska songs like A Message to You Rudy, from bands like The Specials and Madness, alongside the sounds that inspired them.
This is the story of how punk musicians and Jamaican immigrants came together to create "Two-Tone" ska - still loved 40 years later. Red's Tribe takes you on a musical journey from 1960s Jamaica to 1980s England - Kingston to Coventry.
From 60s jazz and rocksteady, with the distinctive Caribbean driving offbeat rhythm, to 80s ska hits you remember: an 8-piece band of some of Perth's finest musicians will recreate both of those eras. Reminisce about the ska you danced to and enjoy the beautiful music that led to its creation.
