Paths We Trace
Paths We Trace is a fusion of contemporary dance and electro-acoustic music mixed with live tenor saxophone and clarinet. The work centres on a call and response between movement and sound as the dancers and musicians interrupt, influence, and enhance each other. The performers' relationship to each other and the sonic material evolves throughout the work, reflecting the unpredictability of change and demanding adaptability.
Paths We Trace embodies a longing for connection throughout periods of change, and examines the relationship between support and risk. It explores our capacity to navigate liminal periods and the role that others play in our ability to find liberation and joy in the uncertain.
How much further do we push ourselves when we have a safety net?
