20 January – 14 February

A man with brown hair sings while playing piano. He wears a black and white houndstooth blazer over a black t-shirt, lit by white and red stage lights. His face is bared into an evil grin, mid-song.
A man with brown hair speaks into a microphone under stage lights. His facial expression is a cheeky smirk. In the background is an iPhone on a ring-light.

Parasocial

Your celebrity hall pass. The podcaster you’d love to grab a drink with. Your childhood crush (who may or may not be a cartoon character). You know EVERYTHING about them, and they don’t know your name.

AKA the parasocial relationship.

Parasocial is a one-man musical comedy by satirist, niche online micro-celebrity and floppy-haired goofball Emerson Brophy. Join him as he traverses the weird, the wholesome and the downright uncomfortable realities of the one-sided relationships we have with the people we spend our lives watching.

All while resisting the urge to ask you to like, comment and subscribe. Honestly, it’s a bit of an ethical mess!

NOMINATED - Best Work by an Emerging Artist, Melbourne Fringe 2026
