Two women and their feline friends try to navigate a world that doesn't warmly welcome their eccentric quirks.
Lonely, obsessive and utterly strange.
Are these women a tad too eccentric or do they simply adore all things cats? Are they hysterical or are they merely expressing their opinions?
Hissterier paw-nders on notions of mental health and gender politics, and asks audiences to decide for themselves - are these women in fact mad or is this their way of challenging and hissing at unjust gendered expectations?

Kailyn and Amelia are emerging dance artists whose collaborative practice explores complex gender-related issues and histories. Their work examines how historical and contemporary ideas about gender continue to shape our understanding of mental health and mental illness. Their work Hissterier premiered at The Blue Room Theatre in the 600 SECONDS program. Following this, they completed a residency with Australian Dance Theatre’s LOFT Experiment residency program, where they continued to develop it into a full-length piece. This iteration of Hissterier will premiere in 2026 at The Blue Room Theatre’s Summer Nights in early February. Hissterier will return for Summer Nights in January 2027.Social media
