Chaos In The Cypher
Chaos in the Cypher draws from Krump’s concept of The Get Off — a state of complete expression, release and surrender. Its intensity can be misunderstood as anger or chaos, echoing how marginalised communities are often judged when expressing themselves openly and honestly. The work asks what happens when dancers find their own Get Off through their bodies, stories and lived experiences. Rage, passion, grief, joy and vulnerability are not suppressed but honoured and transformed through movement. Within the cypher, individual worlds shaped by identity, ancestry and community meet, collide and connect. Chaos in the Cypher looks beyond what we think we see and discover what becomes possible when expression is witnessed.
