AMY: Under the Influence
A brand-new show exploring the artists and sounds that influenced Amy Winehouse – alongside her most iconic hits. This is a tribute with a twist.
Amy’s distinctive sound drew on mid-century jazz vocalists, ’60s girl-group drama, Motown groove, ska attitude and modern soul and hip-hop, all filtered through her own passionately lived experience and unmistakable voice.
Acclaimed vocalist Leah Guelfi – who has sold out previous shows at Downstairs at the Maj, and the Ellington Jazz Club, among others – brings a special flair for Amy’s music to this entertaining journey through the sounds that shaped her. With a stellar backing band of talented Perth musicians, expect jazz, soul, ska, groove and, of course, the unforgettable songs of Amy Winehouse.

Presenter
Presented by: Stuart Ferguson
Stuart has an eye for developing and delivering shows that are "tributes with a twist". His FRINGE shows let great musicians interpret the killer songs and also educate audiences about how the artists were inspired and what led to the creation of iconic music. SKA: From Kingston to Coventry: The story of how punk musicians and Jamaican immigrants came together to create "Two-Tone" ska – still loved 40 years later. Sun Songs: Celebrated the music of legendary Memphis label Sun Records who recorded black artists when no-one else would. Jamaican Pat Powell and Scot Tom McEwan alternated presenting the black and white of Sun Records. Premiering in 2027, AMY: Under the Influence, a brand-new show exploring the artists and sounds that influenced Amy Winehouse — alongside her most iconic hits.
