Ohhhh this was fun!

Melbourne-based After Dark Theatre present this cyber punk circus offering a high octane performance set in a dystopian reality where underbelly and outcasts dominate the neon clad streets.

The show notes promise an acrobatic spectacle or daring circus and they certainly delivered. With acrobatics, aerials, tight [LED tube] rope walking, balance, juggling, and Chinese pole – oh my goodness the Chinese pole. The audience gasped and I heard one woman say, ‘I blinked, I missed it!’ Boy did she choose the wrong time to blink!

The skill of the performers goes without saying, but as they are artists and they will perhaps read this review I will say it anyway. WOW! The strength, skill, concentration that each individual has is amplified when working with their partners or the group and the trust and connection they have in each other is evident.

The whole is more than the sum of it’s parts and the story that connected the performers, the characters they portrayed through out was what made this engaging. From start to finish, this high-energy show is an all-ages show making it a perfect show for adults, teens or whole families. If you bring your kids, be warned, I left REALLY wanting to go home and spray paint my jeans!
