Gamer Jazz - the Music of Video Games
Music has always been a part of the way we tell stories. As video games have come into their own as a storytelling medium, their soundtracks have also evolved to rival those of theater and film.
Saxophonist and bandleader James Sewell takes an S-Tier team of players on a speed run through the history of video game music, featuring quirky reimaginings of everything from the classic Nintendo themes of Koji Kondo to the sweeping orchestral sounds of Martin O’Donnell.

James has been playing sax since he was a child, and has carried that passion all through life. After moving from the eastern states to pursue a degree in Jazz Performance at WAAPA, he has worked in Perth as a sideman and frontman on Sax and Vocals.
Experienced in everything from jazz to pop music, James fronts the horn-heavy outfit Brass Party, which he writes and arranges music for. He is in demand as a session musician, and has featured with local legends such as Your Girl Pho, Flewnt, and Demon Days.
