SMOKO
SMOKO by Jasmine Story dives into the murky underworld of an outback rubbish dump. In this queer outback comedy, Landfill worker, Beccy, lives in a world that is equal parts high-vis glamour and filth. The search for distractions from her hapless dating life leaves her teetering on the edge of her internal void. Join Beccy as she descends into the landfill to discover why she feels like the discarded rubbish she sorts.
SMOKO is an exploration into self-worth in a world of fastened consumption. SMOKO questions the way that our modern relationship with objects influences how we treat each other.
Presented by: The Blue Room Theatre & Big Truck Productions
Big Truck Productions is an art and event production house ran by Esther Dougherty. It is a proudly QUEER project - LGBTQIA+ universe! It is a fantasy vehicle that delivers the art from creation to sharing entirely within the spirit of the joyful, emotional, expressive work from which it was born. Curtain World curates live performance and workshop environments that welcome, that move, that meditate, that joke. Always in the energy of high-art playfulness and strange-making, Curtain World is a movement towards more ambitious, fantastical, irreverent, and loving displays of performance in our lives.
