It is fantastic to have Tash, an amazing AFAB Drag QUEEN and her backup dancer, cheer squad, truth teller, pianist and vocalist extraordinaire, Peppy Smears, back entertaining Perth audiences.
Returning with a new show, Drop Red Gorgeous, Tash takes us on her journey from feeling like a medium brown girl who was ‘too much’ to embracing all (ALL) that she is and becoming a red-headed sister!
At one point, she asks if she is too much, and the answer is that she is the exact right amount of much, as she explores her love of all things red, landing on her first and most longstanding love: red wine. I will admit, having seen Tash perform a few times, I did wonder how she would go without a bar in the venue. Never fear, she brought her own bottle!

Humorous anecdotes are interwoven with knockout vocals; the melodies were recognisable, the lyrics seemed somewhat different to how I remember them, but way more relevant. I have no idea how old Tash York is, young enough to still do the splits but old enough to not care what anyone else thinks. She speaks her truth and refuses to be censored. Peppy’s dripping sarcasm and scathing remarks felt as funny as ever.
If you haven’t seen a Tash York show before, you are in for a treat!
