What is FRINGE WORLD?
FRINGE WORLD is a summer celebration held in in Perth each year. It’s the largest annual event in Western Australia and the third largest Fringe in the world. Yep, Perthians really love their Fringe! The 2018 FRINGE WORLD Festival will run from 26 January to 25 February.
The program of events is all about variety and offering something for absolutely everyone. The line-up includes comedy, circus, free and family entertainment, theatre, visual arts, music and musicals, dance and cabaret presented by Western Australian artists along with performers from all over the world.
The average ticket price is a bargain $24 and the best way to Fringe is to see as many as possible – this is your time to Fringe Binge!
The 2018 Festival program features more 750 events at almost 130 venues throughout Perth.
The best place to start your Fringe adventure is FRINGE Central at The Perth Cultural Centre. The central box office near the Ferris Wheel and Urban Orchard is right at the centre of the entire Fringe universe. There are artists roaming around every night ready to tell you about their shows and so many venues close by for you to check out something new on each visit.
FRINGE WORLD 2018 has returning favourites and new treats in store including a brilliant new hub at the Ice Cream Factory, a great new Palace Society program in some of our favourite venues throughout the King and Queen Streets precinct, a huge circus tent landing right next to Yagan Square and a wildly expanded program at The Pleasure Garden.
On the second weekend of the Fringe we introduce our biggest free program yet! The City of Perth FRINGE WORLD Buskers Weekender will be taking over the City malls from February 2 to 4 with an international array of street performers, circus and wild entertainment.
This FRINGE WORLD you won’t want to miss The Showman’s Fair at the Urban Orchard in FRINGE Central. It’s a wild Dutch mini-festival with live music, performances and special surprises including a long table dining experience that you’ll be talking about for years! Look out for Silent Disco in the authentic vintage lion’s cage and a tent where you go to be touched by God! Like most of the Fringe hubs – it’s free to enter every night of the Festival if you want to drop in and soak up the Fringe vibes before seeing a show or going on a Fringe Binge!
FRINGE WORLD is all about choosing your own adventure and exploring the shows and venues happening all over the metro area across the City of Perth, Northbridge and beyond. From Freo Royale in Fremantle to the Sunset Veranda in Scarborough, from The Pickled Swan in Midland to Leedypalooza in Leederville, from Rockingham to Rottnest to Funtavia in Geraldton, there’s something for everyone and something happening nearby this Fringe!
We’ve been entertaining the people of Perth with Fringe entertainment since 2011 and we can’t wait to see the city come alive again in Fringe-uary, the best time of the year.
