Who (or what) is Grease Grillson?

According to the show's description, Grease Grillson is not a clown, the show is not physical comedy and you should not attend if you're scared of big muscles.
The brainchild of performer Elise Wilson and co-creator Duncan Young, for all the things it supposedly isn't, I Am Grease Grillson is a masterclass in captivating an audience.

With only a few words spoken, Wilson manages to take her audience on a journey of self-reflection and laugh-out-loud discovery. From humble beginnings at the orphanage to bodybuilding championships, the audience is with Wilson every step of the way, cheering on Grease Grillson through countless shenanigans.

As with all Clown work, the success of this show relies heavily on the crowd being willing to come along for the ride. Wilson and Young should be commended for the care with which the show treats their audience. In an intimate venue like The Jonesway Theatre, there was nowhere for anyone to hide, but no one felt the need to. As Grease Grillson prowled the venue looking for company, we sat on tenter hooks, eager to see what happened next or who Wilson would engage with.

Despite the seemingly ridiculous premise, this is a show with a lot of heart. Somewhere in between all the laughter, you'll find touching moments of pure joy, connection and perhaps even the confidence to say "I am enough".

If you love to laugh and want to witness one of Australia's funniest clowns in action, this show a must-see at FRINGE WORLD.
