Alone: The Sacred Riana LIVE brought to FRINGE WORLD a dark and unsettling live experience that leaned heavily into atmosphere, character and psychological tension. From the moment her shadow appeared, slowly making its way down the aisle from the back of the room, it was clear the audience was in for something eerie.

Riana never once breaks character. Her iconic death stare, slow movements and haunting stillness are held with absolute commitment throughout the entire performance. Even before a single trick is revealed, the mood is set. Chilling sound design and dramatic lighting amplify the show’s creepy, supernatural vibe.

While the magic itself didn’t deliver any jaw-dropping “how did she do that?” moments, what the trickery lacked in wow-factor was made up for by Riana’s intense stage presence and her ability to completely command the space. Audience participation is used frequently, reaching right to the back of the venue. I’ll admit, I made a conscious effort to avoid catching her eye. Her presence is deeply unnerving in the best possible way.

The strongest moments of the show came from the staging and atmosphere rather than the illusions themselves. Unfortunately, an unintended flaw in the final trick took some momentum out of the ending, leaving the show to close on a quieter note than expected.

Fans of horror, suspense and character-driven performances will appreciate Sacred Riana’s complete commitment to the immersive atmosphere she creates. This production is one that will either leave you spellbound or send a shiver straight down your spine. Either way, it’s an experience you won’t forget.
