Being a long-time fan of Rory, I was keen to have the opportunity to see his latest offering. He's always honest and engaging and can push his content to the "un PC edge" and beyond. This show did that in parts - but the title did have a clue...it was a little "Lowe" key, compared to his other shows. It was just a bit less edgy and chaotic, but still engaging, and the crowd seemed well entertained.
Maybe because he has recently married, he has "calmed down" and so has his content. There is still his mad, wide-eyed recounts of personal stories told with enthusiastic gusto and bit of tongue in cheek as well. I'm still not sure if they are true or not!
His telling of the proposal and wedding plans was fabulous, touching and funny all at the same time. Priding himself on his manliness in the coupling, whilst also singing his praises for being better at picking colours for the reception, was both touching and humorous. The story of the contraception...hilarious!
The crowd involvement was great. Naturally, the outcome depends on the feedback he gets, but he's adept at working the room. Sometimes it lands well, sometimes it doesn't - but that's the way live comedy goes. He has the ability to poke fun where needed, so it tends to serve him well.
In summary, a great show, definitely worth seeing regardless if you've seen him before, or are a first timer to his comedy.
