CALM

CALM

CALM is a one hour musical immersion, part sound bath, part original music, part looping soundscapes. Follow the music up the stairs to a beautiful Art Deco space where you’ll find Jessie and Mark in the middle of the room, surrounded by plants and fairy lights.

The show is improvised each night, responding to the energy of the audience. Let the sound wash over you and enjoy the live guitar, saxophone, piano, vocals and improvised loops created with the help of the beautiful acoustics of Moana Hall.

From the hauntingly deep piano chords and bass of Radiohead circa Kid A, to the hazy insouciance of Blade Runner-era Vangelis, with soaring vocals, and strong, heartfelt lyrics, through to something far more home grown and guitar-driven. We could discuss their influences and "sounds like" for the rest of Fringe, but in Jessie and Mark, we have fantastic artists in their own rights, whom Perth should treasure while we still have them. CALM was absolutely glorious.

Excellent show but would recommend that the fan at the bar be turned off as the background noise was distracting. I saw the show last year and enjoyed this show more as it was more streamlined due to the continuously start to finish experience focusing on the music. Time slid by very quickly.
