Fountain Lakes: A Kath & Kim Parody is an absolute hoot that every Australian can relate to as we unlock memories of lock down. If you’re a fan of the iconic Aussie sitcom, you’re in for a treat – and if you’re not, well, you’re still in for a treat. The show brings everyone’s favorite mother-daughter duo, Kath and Kim, to life with a fabulous drag twist that’s as over-the-top as you’d hope.

We were whisked into the world of Fountain Lakes, complete with cringey outfits, over-exaggerated Aussie accents, and all the classic one-liners you’d remember. Art Simone is a standout as Kath, nailing every perky step and “foxy lady” moment, while Thomas Jaspers delivers a hilariously spot-on portrayal of the ever-complaining Kim. And let’s not forget Leasa Mann as Sharon – she’s got the netball-obsessed, unlucky-in-love vibe down pat.

Scott Brennan spun a few heads when he portrayed both Brett and Kel with impressive and distinguishing characteristics. And who could forget yuppies True and Prue!? For me, this was probably one of the highlights because they really are two ridiculous characters that make you LOL.

The script is packed with lockdown-related gags with clever nods to Melbourne’s pandemic experience, all while staying true to the quirky essence of the original show. There’s plenty of audience interaction, toe-tapping musical numbers-Sharons Irish jig to name a few. And there were more than a few of those!

It’s fair to say, this small yet dynamic and talented team slipped into these roles as if it were made for them. They really did go above and beyond to give you that Kath and Kim experience!

Grab your mates, slap on some fake tan, and make sure you’re nice and close to the stage! “It’s noice, different, unusual!”
