The Fringe Comedy Gala is a solid choice for a fun and laid-back show to take a chance on. The showcase features five comedians each with rapid 7-10-minute sets, ensuring that you’ll stay engaged, while giving a taster of different comedians around the Fringe.
UK comedian Kyle Legacy compered this particular night, working the crowd and putting them at ease. The rest of the bill showed a mix of both pacing and the higher and lower energy of acts. Be it Persian comedian Darius Davies, someone that knows how to level a room, the softer-spoken and equally engaging Maren May, or closer Frankie Marcos, a real pro that knows how to play to Aussie crowds with a polished act indicative of the American style.
These shows are what the Fringe is fundamentally there for – barebones and intimate where you’re always at great odds of discovering new talent and unearthing gems. At these shows the crowd has a bigger part to play, so if you’re ready for a laugh, you’ll be sure to have a good time.
This tried and tested format will always be worth taking a chance on regardless of who’s on, so I’d definitely recommend popping in.
