This show was great for fans of Taylor Swift, lots of references to songs and lyrics, and it's just fun being in a room with people who all love Taylor Swift and want to have fun in the fandom.

I put my hand up for this show because, yes, I will admit it – I’m a Swiftie. So is my tweenager and before I go any further, I’m required to give this feedback from her –

‘OMG this is the BEST show! You HAVE to give it 5 STARS’.

Just a note on the sizzle factor, which is medium. This show is more suited for older kids and teens. Leave the little Swiftie’s home, or check out some of the other Taylor Swift shows that may be more suitable.

Now, let’s get down to business. Comedian Dean Robertson plays a fourteen year old gay boy talking to us from his bedroom. From the opening scene, #SwiftTok is fun, engaging and interactive. It takes us into the insane world of Taylor Swift fandom.

Dean is a die-hard Swiftie. As he explains the adulation and social media obsession in the TCU (Taylor Cinematic Universe), he also tells us stories about his life as a teenage boy – the good, the okay and the downright embarrassing.

Dean does all of this with great outfits, bread rolls (you’ll have to go and see for yourself), a life-size cutout, lots of laughs and audience participation, and of course – TikTok.

Dean had a challenge with this show. After writing it, he found out he couldn’t use Taylor’s music anymore due to copyright issues, and had to do a very fast rewrite.

He’s done a great job, managing to keep the audience laughing for the entire show.

So, don your best Swiftie outfit and get down to the Middar Room in the State Theatre Centre of WA. #SwiftTok is only on until 25th January and you do not want to miss this show.
