Breathtaking, awe-inspiring, laugh-out-loud funny and all set to iconic 80s music! A pure joy to experience!

I saw 80s mixtape first a few years ago and they were brilliant performers with a stand-out show. Last year I wasn’t sure I wanted to see 80s Mixtape again because we had already seen it the previous year but did and again, great. My concern had been it would be the same show. I needn’t have worried. It was so different! This year it was high on our ‘must-watch’ list and it didn’t disappoint! I’d have to say it’s the best iteration that I’ve seen and if you’ve seen them before, this is a whole new show!

Host Andrew Silverwood does a brilliant job of setting the tone early and keeping the audience entertained between acts so the show moves seamlessly with lightness and good humour. Then Kaleido Company just keep raising the bar (no pun intended) with the skill of the performers! One person in my party said ‘I wanted to cheer but I couldn’t, I was mesmerised!’.

I have seen A LOT of circus around the world so it is rare to see acts that are new or surprising and this show has two. While the cube was an obvious audience favourite and it was definitely something different (and mind-blowingly amazing!), I’d have to say the broom was a stand-out for me as well!

The show is rated PG and, having seen the show before, I was unsure whether it would be suitable for children. When we arrived front of house staff did come up and let me know there was some strong language and mild sexual references since there was an 11-year-old in our group. It was just that, mild sexual references and nothing overly explicit but the performers did let me know that the host ad libs so they are never sure what he might say. There was definitely strong language but nothing we didn’t hear while walking to the show down the streets of Northbridge 😂.

We always finish our days by sharing our favourite thing about the day, after shows we extend that and ask our favourite thing about the show we have just watched. Normally we all give one thing and we have to say to Miss 11, ‘five things max’. Last night as we were leaving we went around our group ‘favourite thing about the show?’ When it got to Miss 11 she just said ‘I can’t! How can I pick?’ That’s exactly how I felt!

This show has it all, a comedian who is genuinely funny, paired with skilled and polished performers who make the almost impossible look so very easy! Special mention has to be made to the glorious 80s outfits - those prom dresses were STUNNING and matched perfectly with the eyeshadow! I can’t finish the review without mentioning the lift! My little heart soared!

This show should be sold out every night, they are sold out on Saturday but this is a show that is 100% worth staying out late on a school night! Do yourself a favour and get a ticket!
