Off Chops is an off-shoot from the gloriously successful YUCK Circus and brings the characteristic blend of flippancy and brilliant circus skills to a simple but familiar narrative – a night out clubbing with your BFF.

Ella Norton and Jessica Smart take us with them through the night recreating the rituals and events which make those nights such fun.

We know the destination is likely to be sprawled in the gutter somewhere at 3am but who cares? It’s all about the journey and in the company of Jessica and Ella what a delightful rambunctious journey it is!

There’s a delicious anticipation when the girls are preparing their look for the night and practising their dance moves, and once in the club there are some hilarious sequences which help to answer such important questions as:

Do you look extra cool on the dance floor when you’ve had a couple?

Does a bouncer have a high IQ or just menace?

How bloody good can a half-time orange be?

Does the five second rule apply when much-craved greasy fast food hits the deck?

Can you score a couple of extra shots at the bar with a bit of opportunism?

Are your best friend’s clothes your clothes in times of need?

Both Ella and Jessica have the comic acting chops and acrobatic skills in abundance and their chemistry is wonderful. They combine so well together with the impressive physical stunts nicely disguised as drunken tomfoolery.

This show is affectionate satire, played for laughs. I loved it and I wasn’t the only one with the Big Top heaving with laughter and applause throughout the performance.

And as usual with the YUCK Circus team you can’t help but feel that Ella and Jessica are having a great time themselves which is so infectious - in the best possible way.
