About this event

Did you ever believe in Happy Ever After? Did you spend years looking for The One? Or maybe you still are? My One True Love is a show about polyamory, about a journey from love with hard edges to love springing unexpectedly from everywhere you look. A series of heartwarming true stories interspersed with love songs, this is a show about looking for true love, and finding it; in friends, lovers, and ultimately in ourselves.

Ex cult member and ex fundamentalist Christian Cara Flame tells a series of humourous and life affirming anecdotes from her experiences of finding love, post a life where love was personified as a controlling and vengeful god.

May contain corny love songs, one of them sung to a chicken.

Disclaimer - Any semblance to persons living or dead is entirely deliberate.

Presented by:
Cara Flame

Performer, clown, Relationship Anarchist, keynote speaker; ex cult member, author, researcher, multimodal arts therapist - Cara Flame is an avid explorer and lover of life.

Cara came from a background in professional theatre before joining a cult, then pursued the path of the independent filmmaker whilst living as an expat in Mainland China, paying the bills as a professional singer. Returning to Australia, Cara worked in film, education, and small business. Became an arts therapist. She lived her life in fear of the religion she grew up in and the cult she left, until she one day found the confidence to speak out. What followed changed her life.

Now, Cara is a passionate believer in the life changing power of play. Want to join the game?
