About this event

An Ordinary Woman is a wild and lurid insight into the life of writer and gender-diverse woman, Andrea Thompson. Andrea is the author of the Fremantle Press novel, Geraldine, which borrows from her life to tell the story of a woman with an adventurer's heart who changes the world that wants to change her. Drawing on the absurd moments that life constantly throws at the gender diverse, Andrea uses spoken word, live music and audio-visual effects to draw the audience into her world, one of prejudice and exclusion, yes, but also one of hope, triumph and deep joy. This show will make you laugh, it may make you cry just a little bit. You will be outraged and then you will laugh some more, By the end of the show, you will want to be an Ordinary Woman too.

Presented by:
Andrea Thompson

Andrea Thompson is the author of the novel, Geraldine, and a contributor to Spinning Around The Kylie Playlist and Women of a Certain Courage, all available from Fremantle Press. Being an accidental member of one of the smallest and most oppressed minorities in society, Andrea is an activist and campaigner for recognition and equity for trans and gender-diverse people. Her approach to life is to live large in the mainstream, while working to change the world one small step at a time, making it safer and creating equity for LGBTQIA+ people. She largely does this through her great loves of writing, music, telling lurid tales and stirring.
