Is the 2021 FRINGE WORLD Festival happening?
Heck yeah!
FRINGE WORLD is returning with another serving of 31 days of entertainment from 15 Jan to 14 Feb 2021 with more amazing entertainment for you to enjoy.
What shows will be in the Fringe?
As an open-access Festival, artists from anywhere in the world can register and participate, but because of COVID-19 the 2021 Festival will be a bit different and for now we are only accepting registrations from artists that are already in WA.
Interstate artists will be able to participate in the Festival as soon as they get their Good-to-Go to enter the state. This means that some Festival tickets may go on sale a bit later than normal, but you can look forward to the first FRINGE WORLD tickets in our Early Release on 12 November.
Ok, so it sounds like the Festival will be smaller than before?
Yep, the 2021 Festival will be a bit smaller than 2020, but we're sure you'll have no problem going on a Fringe Binge and can look forward to a great summer of Fringe entertainment.
As always any venue located anywhere in WA can register and we've had a great response from many previous Fringe venues plus some new ones. ARTRAGE (the producer of FRINGE WORLD) will have a smaller footprint of hubs, reducing from five in 2020 to two in 2021, with The Woodside Pleasure Garden and Girls School to be your go-to for a big variety of shows, great food and good times.
What's that about no printed guide?
FRINGE WORLD turns 10 in 2021 and over the years we know you've eagerly awaited our hefty Festival guide in the mail and looked out for the shiny magazine at your local cafe.
The Festival guide has been your go-to for all events in the Festival, but for 2021 we're doing things a bit differently and won't be producing a printed guide.
We made this call to allow for greater flexibility for our artists so they don't have a hard deadline and can still participate even if they come on board in December or early January.
But don't worry, because with the new FRINGE WORLD app (launching 12 November) will more than make up for no hard copy program.
The FRINGE WORLD app features handy functionality to make it super easy to find shows that you'll love. From scheduling, personalised show recommendations, e-ticketing, maps and our shake to find a random show - the app is APPsolutely essential to download.
The FRINGE WORLD app is being developed by Perth digital consultancy Equilibrium thanks to support from Woodside.
What's happening with FRINGE WORLD Friends?
As always, the best way to experience the Festival is to join the FRINGE WORLD Friends club.
FRINGE WORLD Friends benefits include Friends Frenzy discounted tickets, Early Release tickets, Skip the Line Pass and Friends Night Out special events.
The first FRINGE WORLD tickets go on sale in our Early Release on 12 November.
