More shows to make you feel good

Just in time for the holly jolly’s, FRINGE WORLD adds 82 shows to the already bumper 2023 Festival line-up!

The Festival’s program launch in November was huge and these new additions result in a showcase of more than 500 shows to surprise and delight Western Australian audiences this Summer. From exhilarating comedy to breath-taking circus, there is something to make everyone feel good at FRINGE WORLD.

ARTRAGE CEO Sharon Burgess said the extra shows were a treat for the senses.

“Giving a platform to local, national, and international artists is at the core of what we do at ARTRAGE, and we are delighted to add more shows to the FRINGE WORLD Festival program.” Ms Burgess said.

Now is the time to browse the FRINGE WORLD website and app, share the feel-good vibes with a Gift Voucher for Christmas, and if Santa doesn’t do you right you can treat yourself with a Fringe Binge!

Amongst the newly added shows, there are some stellar Comedy acts for audiences to enjoy. As seen on The Project, Spicks & Specks, and other iconic Australian TV shows, Claire Hooper is bringing her show SWEET CHARITY (VIC – Comedy Hub @ Johnny Fox's) to Perth for its WA Premiere. Also from TV, masterful comic Tom Ballard is back in Perth with a hot new show IT IS! (VIC – Oasis Comedy Club). Multi award-winning comic Josh Glanc is taking the audience on a wild ride of new jokes in his show Preview/Trial/Sex/Buyer Beware (VIC – Perth Cultural Centre). Cult favourite on the Australian comedy circuit, Nick Caper is sharing an intimate story of loss through an hour of stand-up in his show Hold Me Closer Tiny Cancer (VIC – The Shoe Bar & Café).

The laughs don’t stop there. An exciting selection of international comics are making the journey to Perth including comedy legend Gary Macalister bringing his unapologetic humour with IRON BRO (Scotland – Liberty Fringe). Have a laugh and gain insight into the life of a Japanese expat living in Australia in Japanese Worry by Takashi Wakasugi (JPN) (Japan - The Shoe Bar & Café) or check out sketch comedy Pear (UK – Perth Cultural Centre).

If you’re looking for an event to sing and dance to, there are some Music & Musical shows that will tickle your fancy. The internationally touring, live band sing-along group Massoke is bringing two shows to FRINGE WORLD – Rockstar Weekend (UK – Liberty Fringe) a euphoric, spandex-clad journey through the greatest smash hits of all time and Sing the Musicals (UK – Liberty Fringe) an all-singing, all-dancing celebration of the greatest musicals of all time.

Be amazed with some jaw-dropping Circus this summer and get your tickets to one of these newly released shows. For children, catch Morgan James' Pocket Sized Circus! (WA – The Pleasure Garden) in this hour of comedy, variety, and circus tricks. Experience world-class circus acts, mesmerizing aerials, and steamy burlesque numbers in ORACLE (VIC – The Regal Theatre). Direct from Ireland, Snatch Circus are bringing their completely mental/dangerous juggling stunts to Perth with their show Snatch and Grab (Ireland – The Pleasure Garden).

For those looking to explore some Theatre & Performance shows, we have you covered with some newly added works. From the University Dramatic Society see Fire On Ice (WA – Subiaco Arts Centre), a story of a team working together to tackle myriad of problems caused by a fire on Antarctica. Brought to you by the comedic duo Tamara Creasey and Elise Wilson, Love Slaps (WA – State Theatre Centre of WA) is 50 minutes of pure improvised comedy that guarantees a different show every night.

Also in the program is a celebration of the importance of sharing uniquely Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stories, with the film SPEAR: Special Screening (WA – WA Museum Boola Bardip) about Bangarra Dance Theatre’s acclaimed work.
