Curtain falls for FRINGE WORLD 2021: Time to bid farewell to Festival Director

Cultural organisation ARTRAGE today recognised a long-serving team member with FRINGE WORLD Festival Director Amber Hasler announcing that she is stepping away to pursue other opportunities.

Amber has worked with ARTRAGE since 2006 and over this time she has progressed from ARTRAGE Program Manager, to FRINGE WORLD Associate Director and since 2013 she has held the role of FRINGE WORLD Festival Director.

Prior to the establishment of FRINGE WORLD in 2011, Amber produced ARTRAGE’s large-scale events including NYE Northbridge, Northbridge Festivals, the vibrant live music program at the much-loved Bakery performance venue and a handful of ARTRAGE Festivals.

Amber said that, “With the completion of the 10th edition of FRINGE WORLD Festival now behind us, it is the right time for me to leave the organisation. I will be looking forward to a well-deserved break from the festival cycle and plan to take stock of the last 15 years whilst I prepare for exciting new opportunities, enterprises and contributions in the creative sector.”

“Over the last 15 years I have been blessed to have worked with an incredible array of artists, performers, creators, festivals, builders, producers, directors and FRINGE WORLD Festival teams. It has been a pleasure to have worked alongside you, to have seen hundreds and thousands of audience members enjoy all that we were able to offer during 10 summers of FRINGE WORLD. I hold all that we have achieved together in such high regard and in a special and treasured place in my heart.”

ARTRAGE CEO Sharon Burgess thanked Amber for her work with the organisation, and for her contribution to the Festival, which is cherished by the people of Western Australia.

“During Amber’s time at ARTRAGE, the cultural organisation has grown to become the third largest in the state in terms of audience reach and the Festival has grown to be a powerhouse of economic, cultural and social stimulus for the state. We appreciate Amber’s hard work and dedication towards the Festival and wish her every success and happiness as she moves on to new beginnings.”

ARTRAGE Chairperson Dr Anthony Robinson said, “It is with a sense of enormous gratitude and great respect that we regretfully accept Amber’s resignation from ARTRAGE. She leaves behind a tight, effective organisation full of diverse, talented, hardworking people and a festival that is the top global echelon. Amber should be proud of her achievements and we look forward to seeing what she does next.”

Ms Hasler added that, “It has been a pleasure to have served ARTRAGE for this significant time. I leave FRINGE WORLD immensely proud of its history, contribution, and growth and the positive impact it has had on our City. It has been a colourful and rewarding journey and I wish the team all the best with the journey ahead.”

Amber will conclude her work with ARTRAGE on Friday 12 March 2021.
