Bogan Shakespeare Presents: King Lear

Bogan Shakespeare Presents: King Lear

The WA homegrown smash hit is back, bigger and better than ever!

This year we are taking on King Lear.

We find our tale at Fremantle Cicerello’s. A cheeky fisherman’s basket is the order of the day but what might be found within that basket? A disingenuous bit of fried fish? A portion of selfish chips? A scheming set of squid rings? A delicious grab stick… of murder! After working to build a fish and chip empire King Lear seeks only what any of us would, a day off. He intends to retire and leave his empire to his daughters. But whom is best suited? Who is most deserving? Who can handle those god damn seagulls?

“This show is not only hilarious but also insanely clever." ★★★★★ Fringefeed

“A perennial Fringe World powerhouse." ★★★★☆ Seesaw Mag

I've been meaning to see Bogan Shakespeare for a few years, and finally made it. I was not disappointed, and now regret even more that I've missed it in the past! A hilarious mix of the Shakespearean classic, and the classic Aussie. If you haven't already, get yourself along, you won't be disappointed!

Witty, hilarious and unexpected retelling of the Bard’s tale. Definitely a must see.

A brilliant show with all of the deceit, subterfuge and murder you expect from Shakespeare, with a strong dose of Australiana and enough twists to keep you guessing. Magnificent performances from the Bogan Shakespeare crew made a show that the whole crowd enjoyed!

Another outstanding show from this talented company. Nine years and going stronger than ever packing the Heath Ledger Theatre. I am a huge fan. I laughed so hard I nearly wet myself.

Hilarious. Fabulous effort from the Bogan team once again. I have taken two groups to see this very clever show, and all enjoyed it immensely. It was even funnier the second time. Love the opening song and the way it sets the scene.

So many good jokes 😂😂 It still would’ve been funny without knowing the original King Lear but I’m glad I crammed a quick google of the plot summary beforehand as it made it even funnier. 10/10 Yeah mate, pretty good 👍🏼
