Get a drink, get comfy and get ready for a great night of comedy right in the centre of Freo at the National Hotel!
National Comedy Fringe Showcase presents a night of laughs by comedians from across Australian and overseas, making for a great line up that will have you in stiches no matter your taste. There’s something for everyone (except maybe the kids)! Every performance boasts a new mix of comedians, like a lucky dip where your prize is a guaranteed night of fun – whichever date you pick, you’re sure to be laughing!
This particular night started off with MC Ben Darsow (SA), warming up the audience – take a seat in the front row to get involved in the action! If you’re disappointed to have missed Ben at the National Comedy Fringe Showcase, you can also catch him as MC at The Crushers Comedy Gala.
Next up was Chris Shin’s (WA) outrageous and high energy performance, tackling Asian stereotypes and lamenting the struggle of having your parents visit. Following Chris, all the way from Japan was Takashi Wakasugi, also known as Waka. Waka’s hilarious take on the differences between Australian and Japanese culture is not to be missed. Catch his show Farm Backpacker (Subclass 417) at the Shoe Bar and Café! Xavier Susai (WA)’s great performance brought us to the intermission with hysterically accurate recreations of trance music and regional country ads. For more from Chris, Xavier and Waka, don’t miss the Asian Comedy Showcase at the Comedy Lounge!
Rounding off the evening were Thomas Green’s (UK / SA) uproarious musings on topics ranging from gay sharks to teaching primary school kids. Make sure to catch his show Thomas Green: Cultivated at the Brass Monkey Hotel.
For a night filled with a fantastic mix of national and global comedy, get down to the National Hotel for a taste of some of the best comedy on offer at Fringe.
