Are you a millennial without an Instagram account? You get an avocado! Do you happen to be in your 20s or 30s and actually have enough money to have a mortgage? You get an avocado!

This is how the laughs start in Toxic Millenniality as host Zeppo takes to the stage to warm things up. Avocadoes for everyone, because that’s what millennials love, right?

Zeppo claims that the line-up of comedians is really a collection minorities, and he’s not wrong.

There’s the gaysian (gay Asian) school teacher who is a disappointment to his parents, a transgender woman, the comedian in her 30s who dropped out of TAFE (twice), and a 20 something white guy who is worried about his Uber rating. Then, there’s Zeppo himself – a child of African immigrants whose name he will almost always have to spell out.

It may sound a bit politically incorrect to point out these stereotypes, but this is the type of stand-up show where every artist embraces their differences, and their typecasts, to keep the audience laughing from start to finish.

Not only is the show hilarious, but it’s also enlightening, especially if you’re not a millennial. Or don’t identify as one.

How do you find a partner during a pandemic? How do you buy condoms when you haven’t yet met the person you’re “dating” yet? How much time do you spend talking to people about your genitals if you’re transgender?

These are just some of the questions answered in what is a side-splitting hour of comedy.

Each comedian only has about 10 minutes on stage. It’s just enough time for them to deliver rapid, quickfire jokes and hand out avocadoes. So many avocadoes.

You don’t need to be a millennial to enjoy this showcase. You don’t even need a great sense of humour – each of the performers that take to the stage is genuinely laugh-out-loud funny. This is a show you should not miss.
