If you love audience participation, Britingo! is your ultimate late-night FRINGE WORLD show. Hosted by comedian Andrew Silverwood, Britingo! offers an entertaining and light-hearted stop for Fringe-goers where the audience members get to play several rounds of bingo with the chance to win $100.

Being a show of bingo, audience participation was expected. However, Britingo! is unique in the sense that audience participation IS the show. The concept of the show is simple – the audience members each get a playing card and get to compete in the universally-loved game of chance known as bingo.

Despite the show’s concept being very simple, Andrew Silverwood’s quick-witted comedic talent shines through as he engages with the audience. His boisterous and sharp style of humour was received well by the audience who appeared to lean into the fun of the game.

Silverwood’s assistant, known as Amy, embodied a classic chavvy British woman. Her character added an extra layer of comedy to Silverwood’s improvisation and her assistance enabled the game to run smoothly.

The game is peppered with musical interludes and silly tiebreakers, allowing the audience to sing along and end their night on a high. In addition to the $100, there are many prizes to be won. Some prizes were excellent and some not so good – this only made the game of chance that much more fun.

This show is wonderfully silly and an excellent way to really let your hair down at the end of a Fringey evening. The show is best suited to a loud, engaged and boisterous audience, so if you are wanting to see a serious and well-executed piece of theatre, this is not the show for you. However, if you love bingo, want a bit of fun or love comedic audience interactions, Britingo! is a great show to add to your Fringe schedule.
