This production presented by Red Velvet Effect is a perfect date night out for the LGQTA community. Heterosexuals of course welcome.

In the audience were a number of enamored lesbian couples and attractive single girls who seemed sorry when the hour long performance went by too fast, even though the play does grace us with a solid 68 minutes.

This simple play with a perfect mix of low and high tech features a cast of talented and experienced actors such as Liv Richardson, Sophie Herbert, Ben Albert, Cassee Lazic (who also produces, directs, and co-writes), Krispin Maesalu, Amanda Ferguson, Blake Hughes, Nigel Goodwin, Ivette Kuijpers and Calen Simpson.

Luke Heath is the other writer and co-director of this most engaging story about two girls in high school who have to face all sorts of drama to remain a couple, regardless of what their peers and parents say.

Stellar performances all the way around as “Jess” and “Belinda” are forced to come out to (delightfully youthful) parents and Belinda’s supportive while dyslexic sibling “Shawn.”

If one could clap with fervent applause between each of the scenes it would have been quite deserved but it wasn’t appropriate in this serious theatre setting.

Particularly physical scenes are well choreographed. Intelligence is especially demonstrated by the red headed and lovely captain of the netball team.Props are truly destroyed as the set spills out over the stage, commanding a presence. Wardrobe is sexy, sporty, and on point.

”Dream Girl” also surprises with a few entertaining a cappella musical numbers with a guitar.
Explicit themes presented in a classy manner make this a class act! Allies to the LGQTA community will find this play engaging, enchanting, and endearing. This may be the only lesbian themed play at FRINGE WORLD so catch it while you can.
