Kim Kardashian Causes Climate Change (?)

Kim Kardashian Causes Climate Change (?)

Dr. Pam Rana (Winner Raw Comedy, QLD, 2009) is here to perform the Heimlich manoeuvre on a cultural bolus lodged in the throat of our shared social psyche called Kim Kardashian. In this hilarious hour, the doctor will dissect how eco-catastrophes are perpetuated by the rise of hedonistic icons like KK through a side-splitting slide show.

Billed as a 'funny Inconvenient Truth' and after several successful festival runs, Dr Pam brings her new show to debut at FRINGE WORLD 2019. It's Al Gore meets Bill Hicks as she offers practical* solutions to the failing political climate that systematically sustains the delcine of our natural world. Dr. Pam's prescription for planetary health fixes our environmental woes in a funny way.

*anarchist, not really, but kinda really..

A licensed medical practitioner and Queensland’s Raw Comedy winner in 2009, Dr Pam Rana debuts her new show at FRINGE WORLD 2019 and it certainly doesn’t disappoint.

Armed with a PowerPoint presentation, excellent comedic timing, and energetic enthusiasm, Dr Rana hilariously explains how our capitalist and Kim Kardashian driven economy is destroying the environment and what we must do to stop it.

Standing behind a lectern, the good doctor dissects, with surgical precision, how ecological disasters are perpetuated by celebrity and consumer culture with the use of graphs, photoshop, and amusing sketches.

With a runtime of about 55 minutes, Dr Rana provides an interesting and topical lecture about the issue of climate change, pollution and sustainability.

What would normally be a fairly sombre discussion is made incredibly palatable and funny by Dr Rana’s clear intention in not taking herself too seriously, her amusing punchlines, and her ability to smoothly transition between educating the audience with scientific data and making jokes at the expense of the Kardashian clan.

While the show delves into topics like social and economic equality, it is firmly grounded in comedy and allows the audience to be thoroughly engaged in what really is an hour-long seminar about the seemingly human propensity for destruction.

Dr Rana’s show is as intriguing, as absurd, and as interesting as its title suggests and a must see for anybody who likes to laugh and learn at the same time.

Dr Rana has put together a fantastic performance which can only be described as Al Gore’s version of An Inconvenient Truth if Al conveniently decided to inhale canisters of nitrous oxide in between takes.
