Emotional roller-coaster
“Emotional roller-coaster”
Great musical trio, unfortunately not miked enough to reach the back of the room. The ”flamenco" dancers strangely performed to pre recorded music. Real flamenco dancers bleed the music with passion and tap dancing so intense it vibrates through your body. No so much here. Just going through the motions. When the backing music reached crescendo, the dancers casually waved the fans around. No anguish, passion or pain in sight.

The percussionist was unbelievable, but the dancers were a bit Raygun like, so mixed feelings

Flamenco Y Cuba is a must-see at FRINGE WORLD. Clicking castanets, twirling shawls, and vibrant colours bring the heart and soul of Cuba to Perth.

Flamenco dancers Valeria and Maree are captivating in their traje de flamenco. Filled with the passion and expression that is distinctly flamenco, they are foot-stomping and hand-clapping dervishes on the stage.

Hailing from Havana, guitarist Ernesto Enriquez Castillo brings the heart and soul of Cuban music to the stage with his seemingly effortless talent—his fingers performing their own graceful dance across the guitar. He is accompanied by Perth’s very own percussionist, Steve Richter, who plays a myriad of eclectic instruments, from drums to boxes, bongos, and chimes. The trio is rounded off with the smooth sounds and heavy beats of the double bass.

Together, this fabulous ensemble brings the sounds and rhythms of Cuba to Perth.
