Be transported to Paris in 1932.
There is a star-scape alighting the backdrop and a majestic grand piano graces the stage. Our Maestro introduces us to this spontaneous night filled with Cabaret - Unscripted.
The Maestro effortlessly plays music as though musical scores fall out of thin air at his touch. We are introduced to our leading lady and resident diva. Tonight, her name is Dulcie Pusson; tomorrow, who knows?
Now, Dulcie is all splits and fishnets with a pretty remarkable set of pipes. Not only are the performers quick-witted, but they also sing beautifully and are able to improvise off one another in a way that feels effortless and is incredibly amusing.
The dynamic between these two talented performers is a pleasure to witness, and it is clear from the outset that the show is going to be filled with over-the-top, super-random humour.
The audience will quip responses to questions or scenarios that they weave into songs. The show, the performance, and the way in which this is all tied together with a bow for the audience feels like a true gift.
The lighting and sound are also skilfully improvised, with broody colours and impressive spots flashing at will.
If you are a person who loves adventure and is simply happy to see where an evening takes you, with all of its unique charm and unintentional silliness, this is a show you’ve got to see.
