“Greatest of all time”
BEST ACT AT FRINGE. You can tell heart and soul and thousands of hours of creativity and practice and cooperation have created a story to make you laugh smile and have a heap of fun. Unexpectedly, it even got me in the feels. World class acrobatics (the falling out of a plane illusion... wow!) and physical comedy woven together in a story that pulls that you. Pure and simple genius.

The night I attended Spyhard, it was a full house – which is always a promising sign. From the very first moments, the audience was completely captivated. The Big Top filled with laughter and cheers from the crowd from the beginning to the end, this was a thoroughly entertaining show.

The couple behind Spyhard is Fay MacFalane and Anthony Tran of Circus Sorbet. They’re a remarkably talented pair who seamlessly blend acrobatics, expressive dance, and breathtaking aerial acts with masterful storytelling to create their engaging shows.

This year’s show Spyhard is a loving homage to the action-comedy films of the ’90s and early 2000s. It introduces us to the mysterious Russian operative Faytasha Romanov and the charmingly suave English agent Antonio Tranderas. Together, they embark on a high-stakes mission packed with espionage, intrigue, and just the right amount of absurdity.

The audience was enthralled as they raced to recover missing documents and prevent global chaos. Their physical comedy was impeccably timed, while their aerial feats were breathtaking. The balance was just right between humour, skill, and narrative, and made for a wonderfully unique and compelling performance.

This Fringe season is particularly special for Fay and Anthony, it marks ten years since they first met and fell in love at the festival. Spyhard is more than just a show, it’s a celebration of their partnership, both on and off stage. And when two artists are this in sync, magic happens. Spyhard is an excellent show, and if you have the chance to see it, I strongly recommend that you do.

Spyhard has now finished its Perth Fringe run and is heading to Adelaide. Keep up with this dynamic duo to find out where they’ll be next.
