Fringe Festival is the perfect time to try something new. Not a Boring Life, a play held in a local bowling club, definitely meets the brief and I’m pleased to say in a good way.

Quinn is dead. Not in a, call the police, chalk outline, white sheet type of death, no this appears to be an average, run-of-the-mill passing.

As expected, especially in tradition obsessed London, her three friends Marion (Fiona Forster), Susan (Colleen Bradford) and Charls (Yvette Wall), gather in her flat to reminisce.

As the champagne toasts flow, memories become distorted and a rummage through Quinn’s possessions starts to raise questions.

It’s not long before the origins of their friendship start to shine through. Formed through many a book club session and having read numerous murder mysteries, their questions soon turn into clues.

When a cryptic note is found, a phone call is quickly abandoned and neighbour Mrs Partridge (Kerry Goode) appears at the door, their minds go into overdrive.

As the audience laughed out loud, I pondered:

Not a Boring Life is a play that will leave you pondering how much you really know about your friends?

The Cambridge Bowling and Recreation Club was a great venue. Easy to park, good accessibility (including an automatic opening door!), good toilets and a decent sized bar area. I’ll definitely consider events on at this venue in the future;

Note to Self … make sure you throw away anything you don’t want friends of family to see;

Second note to Self … check out Off the Wall Productions for more plays by this group.
