Gloriously Uplifting! And, then there was House (Music)! Spoiler Alert for this award-winning show: if you see it once, you might be compelled to see it multiple times, so clear your calendar!
The History of House show returns to FRINGE WORLD and is a combustible collaboration of the world-renowned Soweto Gospel Choir and the Superstar Australian DJ, Groove Terminator. The 18 – strong contingent of the Soweto Gospel Choir filled out the Rechabite Main Stage with two rows of performers, and colourful videos, a disco light show, and thoroughly danceable music from the 1970’s and 80’s served as the backdrop to their incredible vocals and dance moves.
The electric mix of music, singing, and dancing was high octane, to say the least. The performers constantly interacted with the audience, with some actually coming down off the stage to mingle. Their physical energy, love of music, and obvious joy were infectious, creating a groundswell of glorious feeling among the entire audience. With back-to-back songs like Freak Out, Respect, I want Your Body, Do You Feel It, Show Me Love, Freedom, Hallelujah, Good Life, and Ride Like the Wind, the movin’ and groovin’ started the moment the show opened and didn’t stop until 90 minutes later. You had to be there!
There is no intermission, so come well-rested, hydrated, and with your dancing shoes on. And, bring a friend - they will thank you for it. To relive the special moments, History of House has just released their debut ARIA-nominated album, available in vinyl and CD.
This was the opening FRINGE WORLD 2025 performance for History of House, and it will continue Thursdays through Sundays at The Rechabite Main Hall until Sunday, 9 February. Start booking your tickets now!
