Thunderstruck is an immersive electric violin performance showcasing beloved hits of classic rock with some surprises thrown into the mix. Blue Violin aka Christopher Vuk is a wonderful performer. He engages his audience through singing, playing, dancing, joking and sharing the odd musical tip! He also does it while surrounded by a sea of faux candles, adding to the ambiance but thankfully not the fire hazard potential!

Without wanting to give too much of the content away, Christopher is an exceptionally talented violinist, and my untrained ears didn’t detect any errors. Whether he was playing a fast and furious classic rock number or an unexpected, softer inclusion like ‘What Was I Made For’ from the Barbie movie, he was transfixing to watch! Several outfit changes were also part of the evening, including a striking pink suit… to match the Barbie movie, of course!

While Fringe champions a lot of amazing local talent, it’s great to see some overseas acts thrown into the mix as well. Christopher hails from Iowa, USA, and we are lucky to have the inclusion of such a talented performer.

All in all, if you enjoy modern music performed with a violin like I do, you will be delighted by Thunderstruck and not disappointed you bought tickets. Whether it’s the talent, the palpable music or the pink suit, The Blue Violin will leave you wanting more. Thunderstruck is a fun, moving and mesmerising evening out.
