Amna Bee: Don't Tell My Family

Amna Bee: Don't Tell My Family

She’s a bad-ass rule breaker and has got one hell of a story as a result – just don’t tell her family. Following sold-out festival runs and rave reviews at Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Melbourne International Comedy Festival and Adelaide Fringe, Amna Bee is bringing her show to FRINGE WORLD for the first time!

Amna was raised by a conservative family in Pakistan and has grown up to defy every single expectation placed upon her. Join her for a wild ride across cultures, taboos and borders – one debacle at a time. She discusses all critical topics such as divorce, dating, politics, religion and plant-based milks.

"Breaking rules & social conventions....edgy & dark." The Advertiser, 2022

"A wicked sense of humour that's instantly engaging." Time Out, 2021

"Very very funny." The Plus Ones, 2021

Standing centre stage looking like sunshine and innocence personified in a gorgeous yellow dress is the talented Amna Bee.

However, when she starts sharing her personal experiences with cutting wit along with a cleverly crafted repertoire you can tell in the first few minutes there is going to be some A-grade humour that is less than appropriate.

The venue was packed as Amna delivered to a polite and engaged audience who were a little shy at times to respond to her questions and repartee yet, Amna skilfully coaxed crowd interaction in the form of group singing of her “favourite” song, Wonderwall. Laughter easily flowed throughout the performance.

This talented comedian built connections with the audience members through relatable content and banter. The crowd was enthralled while she told of her journey from Pakistan to Canada then via Melbourne to Alice Springs.

Masterfully weaving in cultural experiences whilst playing on stereotypes with cunning observations was amusing as well as thought-provoking.

Amna Bee’s “Don’t Tell My Family” was a hilariously entertaining comedy show, expect the unexpected and see it now in person before Netflix snap her up for a special.
