We went to see the show last night at Ellington Jazz Club, and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Both Mikey and Jens have so much talent, and worked so hard. Well done

Michael Halcrow's performance, characterized by his cheerful demeanour and authentic movements, effectively captured the spirit of Don O'Connor. His depiction of the character was smooth and well-suited, aligning with the role. Alongside him, Jens Radda demonstrated versatility as his partner in crime, contributing skillfully through singing, piano playing, and acting. The audience was an interesting mix of age groups, perhaps those who remembered Don or just wanted to experience the story of a bygone era. The venue suited the act perfectly with everyone being able to see the show.

Before attending this show, my knowledge of Don O'Connor was limited. However, the lively presentation by Halcrow and Radda also sparked an interest in learning more about O'Connor's life and career. The cabaret served as a gateway, piquing curiosity about the lesser-known aspects of this Golden Globe-winning actor's story.

Certainly, Don O'Connor's life, spanning 60 years, is extensive and intricate. Condensing such a rich narrative into a 50-minute show is undoubtedly ambitious and while it would have been a bonus to have more storytelling and maybe even some dance (which he was so famous for) it is understandable that the show would be just a snapshot of his life. Halcrow and Radda took on the challenge with enthusiasm, dedicating themselves to delivering this remarkable journey to the audience. Their commitment and passion were evident in every facet of the performance, from the storytelling to the musical numbers and the overall theatrical experience.

The ambition to cover six decades of history within a limited timeframe may seem challenging, but the performers' dedication and effort made it a worthwhile endeavour. The show not only provided entertainment but also served as an invitation to explore and appreciate Don O'Connor's contributions to the entertainment industry more deeply.

In the hands of Halcrow and Radda, this ambitious project came to life. Their energetic and sincere approach not only paid homage to Don O'Connor's legacy but also left the audience curious to uncover more about the lesser-known aspects of this Hollywood icon's life.
