Retro Lights is a great fun musical jukebox journey through the ages of music. If that’s not enough they add in dancing, fan veils, hula hoop, fire performance and even better, flashing lights (including a light-up see-through saxophone) and a black light!
The early time slot made this show appealing for adults and children alike. Sometimes when children attend events they can struggle to sit still or be engaged in the performance and that can be distracting for other audience members, especially in some of the smaller venues.
These performers, the saxophonist in particular, did a fantastic job of identifying the kids who were struggling and engaging them and what a difference it made to everyone, to the kids who were suddenly so captivated they were still, their parents who visibly relaxed and the rest of the audience. As a mum of 3 I mean this only positively, if a performance can make a distracted kid who is climbing the benches and playing with a balloon mesmerised and still then that performance is doing something (many things) right!
The show was good wholesome fun with talented performers, some really great costumes, and music that appealed across the generations which worked out well because in the show I attended there were audience members from 4 to 84 and everyone left with a smile!
