The crowd assembles at The Parlour in the Pleasure Garden. An intimate venue for an intimate affair. The wedding guests are handed tiny banana confetti for tonight we have gathered for a most auspicious occasion. A union between two deeply enamoured clowns.

Britt Plummer carries her soliloquy with deft deliverance and takes us on a journey navigating the whimsical romance of two Fringe performers living on opposite sides of the globe trying to make love and life work during times of a pandemic. As the audience lay witness to Britt’s physical humour, stylised movement, dramatic (and hilarious) monologue and mime they are also asked to scrawl down their experiences of the couple to support their visa application.

What ensues are moments of random improvised humour as Britt connects effectively with the audience and expresses her willingness to traverse the globe for the clown she loves.

Sound effects are seamless and the lighting is dynamic and shares a synergy with Britt’s story as it cleverly enhances the mood and moments experienced. A heart-shaped disco ball split in two is a poignant prop in the centre of this theatre in the round and it foreshadows that not all is smooth sailing on the seas of love.

Our leading lady showcases a timelapse of love depicted through a Covid share house romance and the crowd is taken through many moments of hilarity and some surprising times of tenderness.

This multi-talented performer immediately draws you in, she carries the show throughout and the time disappears easily, you will be laughing, sharing sympathy, throwing confetti and tapping your toes to this clever and fun performance. Fool’s Paradise is definitely one to watch this Fringe season.
