Joshua Warrior has some compelling and funny stories to tell! There was a bit of mystery in the beginning with him sitting with his back to the seats before the show started causing the audience members to murmur a bit, like, "Whoa, Who's That?"
Then he spun around and started to regale us with tales from his incredibly interesting life - first as a blind, single father of two with his kids running off in different directions in the grocery store, then as an Aboriginal man travelling throughout Australia and overseas explaining in song how people from various regions greet each other and transforming Johnny Cash's "I've Been Everywhere, Man" to all of the different Aboriginal lands where his relatives hailed from; and as a celebrity within his family and community with cousins and uncles always calling him to ask for a loan or free tickets.
Joshua did a great riff on how a state government was trying to change school textbook wording from Australia being stolen to discovered.
Audience participation was encouraged so that he could read us better since he couldn't see us, and that made the performance even more engaging. Keep an eye on Joshua Warrior, as he is going places!
