Laughed so hard I cried
“Laughed so hard I cried”
Introducing kids to a love of theatre through pure silliness and creativity! I had a great time. The kids could not stop talking about it. They didn’t know what to expect: My son was very reluctant to attend the show beforehand but is its most enthusiastic promoter now! My daughter still feels like the red team was robbed and wants them to know she recognises their superior improvising skills.

Family Focused Fun comes to the State Theatre Centre.

When children's shows claim that mum and dad will have just as much fun as the kids, I'm always nervous. But I needn't have been with The Little Hoo Haa. An hour of improvised comedy with child-friendly jokes and some of the games that improvisers will recognise and audiences will adore.

Audience interactivity was handled wonderfully, ensuring that the audience felt comfortable and safe to contribute. You can put your hand up to give suggestions and ideas for the scenes, or just sit back, vote on your favourite team, and decide the show’s inevitable winner, Hearts or Bones.

No show will be the same, so I can't tell you exactly what you'll see, but all the performers are given a chance to shine, with improvised musical moments, silly scenes and chaotic camaraderie. Some performers do better in some games than others, but all are given a chance to strut their stuff. They all clearly understand where the line is with the jokes too - pitching some for the adults but not in a way that excludes the kids from the fun.

Definitely one for the kids on school holidays - and with an 11am start time, you're set up for a good day.
