The one-hour set at the Heath Ledger Theatre provided the audience with an experience to remember.
The 14-piece big band, Adam Hall and the Velvet Boys, engaged with the audience at every point during their set, with their witty chats, music and flapper-style dance.
The big band included four saxophonists, two trombonists, two trumpeters, a pianist, a double bassist, and a drummer. Adam Hall switched between vocals and trumpet.
Playing the music from the likes of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Louis Armstrong and Ray Charles, the band showed off their exemplary skills and solos.
Adam really engages with the audience between songs by bringing his personal experiences and humour to the set. The audience got to be included in why the band has its name, some of its history and quirky facts about some of the band.
Upon finishing the set, Adam Hall and The Velvet Boys came back on stage for a one-song encore. The band started the show singing Sinatra and ended the show singing another Sinatra song.
On completion of the set, the audience gave Adam Hall and the Velvet Boys a standing ovation.
It is a show well worth seeing and highly recommended for people to see an Adam Hall and the Velvet Boys event in the future.
