“A Bit Gay” is quirky, unique, fun and sincere. We have the opportunity to meet Alissa Marsh before the show starts and they offer us the opportunity to be able to input random topics into a glass which they draw from for their candid, interactive, improvised and witty performance.

Set in the back room of the the “Belgian Beer Cafe” which is arguably one of the “straightest venues in Northbridge” the room is filled with queer folk and allies and the stage is awash with pink blue and white lighting and the vibe just works.

Alissa confidently navigates the good-natured and invited audience in put to effortlessly craft a comedy piece that delivers. The performance is the right balance of humour that has the entire audience invested, involved and laughing along with this talented comedian.

The scene is set for Courtney Maldo to perform and she quickly established a “read” and a rapport with the audience through a variety of rapid-fire topics that amused and delighted.

Courtney was willing to be vulnerable and shared personal stories, relevant statistics and complex issues in a way that retained levity and was thought-provocative.

Both of these capable comedians are ones to watch and are a great way to kick off your final nights of Fringe!
