On the surface, there was a lot of effort made turning the Rechabite into an underwater rave; however there were good bits and bad during my attendance at the show.
The door staff were friendly and greeted all the families in a warm manner. They were very apologetic about the heat and made sure that the kids were feeling comfortable. Accessibility was not clearly pointed out on entry; climbing up several flights of stairs isn’t always suitable for little legs.
The decor was the best bit about the event. The animals were covering the ceiling and upper levels, the glitter and balloons were super kid friendly. There was a free rainbow face painter who had lines out the door.
The hosts created an amazing dance floor (which was only a small area for the kids) the adults were blocking most of the areas, so finding a quiet spot took going onto the other levels.
The music was excellent and consistently perfect. It was a great mix of child and adult friendly beats. Families got into the spirit and many were dressed to the sea theme. Neon is also recommended for the Rechabite. While the air conditioning didn’t really feel great; having iced water in the bar area was a great, and well needed touch after sweating it out on the dance floor.
One negative point was having adults on the floor with alcohol. Having children dancing on a floor with adults carrying alcohol was not a pleasant view. There should have been a clear area where the kids could dance on the front level without the parents (or parents in the back rows). It took staff awhile to clean up sticky spills off the dancing level. There were plenty of quiet spots on the upper level for an alcoholic recharge.
Overall, the intention was great but some parts were poorly executed.
