Ok, you all need to run not walk to go and see Shash Kapur. He’s a brilliant comedian with natural skill and an affable nature with some sharp observations thrown in for good measure. 007 Shash Kapur – From Mumbai With Love is Kapur’s journey to becoming an Australian citizen and the different experiences he and a lot of Indian migrants have. It’s not a rags to riches or sob story, just keen observations regarding the difference in upbringing and the perceptions people have of each other. Kapur is a clean comedian – you can bring the kids, in fact if they’re Indian kids he’ll ask you which one is earmarked to become a doctor?

Kapur has a great stage presence, he makes you feel comfortable and even his gentle ribbing of cultures is all in good fun. Controversial topics such as gender non-binary language are rendered hilarious in the skilled hands of Kapur. He never punches down and always circles everything back to himself – Kapur would rather be the fool than make anyone else feel like one. Clever and sharp-witted, Kapur talks about everything – from being an accountant to his comedy journey, to his father’s stinginess – every single joke lands. When Kapur laughs at his father’s frugality he does it so that he doesn’t belittle his Dad, rather how his lack of spending money affects him. Like only ever buying homebrand. Kapur is a kind comedian, taking all the hits and gently laughing at life. This is why he says he comes from Mumbai with love – because that’s all he has to give to his audience – love.
