A high-energy, sparkly sugar rush, YUMMY: The Kids Extravaganza! is about one man’s dream to be a unicorn. Imagine Hi-5 but whackier, and that’s the vibe YUMMY brought to the circus in this rainbow-filled adventure. With marshmallow lasers, fun characters, bold acrobatics, and cool circus skills, there was non-stop action in the tent – hula hoops, trapeze, and juggling raw eggs to name a few.

This show will have you yelling ‘YEEHAW!’ and a whole bunch of other things, as there was plenty of audience participation to keep the kids engaged. There was a definite pantomime influence, which suited the show very well. There was also a fun dance activity that even the adults joined in with, but I do wonder why we did the stretches after we’d done the dance!

You think you know where the show is going, but you don’t. The Gummy Bear King as the villain was one of the funniest parts – and it’s the most threatening gummy bear you’ll ever meet. Don’t believe me? Go and see for yourself!

Aside from all the silliness is a clever message. Some kids need to hear that they’re allowed to be a neon rainbow pegasus unicorn, and your dreams can change as you grow, and that’s ok.

With unique songs made just for the show, great use of props and smooth scene changes, this is a well-produced extravaganza. You’re especially in for a treat if your kid wants to be a chef, marine biologist, Broadway performer, cowgirl or unicorn.

Featuring the silliest surfing competition you’ll ever witness, kitchen chaos and some well-placed slapstick, no dream is too silly, no idea is too ridiculous for this happy-go-lucky crew. So join Barry Gumnut the Neon Pegasus and his friends, and get ready to ride the rainbow of your wildest dreams!
