Are you watching closely? Are you sure you can believe your eyes? The Adults Only Magic Show will dazzle and deceive you - as long as the kids 'disappear' before the show starts.

Long-time friends and magicians, Sam and Justin, or the 'the Showmen’, are your hosts for the evening. Dressed in typical magician attire, a velvet blazer, and long black pants, one may expect the usual performance of rabbits in hats and mediocre card tricks. Do not be fooled, the Showmen themselves are the most skilled performers - aware of their audience, charismatic, and possessing enough personality to fill the room. Sam and Justin are witty and quick, holding the perfect balance of clever quips and gags with audience participants, whilst also making their audience feel comfortable and at ease.

In the beginning of the show, the Showmen jest that the best audience members for magic shows are drunk people, as they are most easily impressed. I’d like to assure you, however, that my friends and I were completely sober and still couldn’t wrap our heads around the fantastic tricks seen on that unassuming little black stage. The magic in the Adults Only Magic Show feels a leap and a bound above your average magician, with the Showmen taking ordinary tricks and elevating them into something grander; perhaps impossible. Even the most perceptive audience detectives will leave with their eyebrows knitted together, trying desperately to understand the tricks with logic and perception. Alas, sometimes magic is just magic…right?

The last couple of years haven’t been easy, especially for artists who rely on people and shows and crowds to make a living. I’ve found the best shows are those that bear their heart a little on their sleeve, and there was a moment in the show where we caught a glimpse into the real strength, tenderness, and perseverance of artists – a kind of raw tenacity unique to the creatives among us. Comedy and magic will draw people in, but it is vulnerability and authenticity that will make them stay. The Adults Only Magic Show is a night of glamour, wit, and illusion, performed by Showmen so loveable that you’ll have to forgive them for deceiving your very own eyes.
